Marching Band Snare drum Music
No other way of playing music is quite like a marching band. Hitting the field puts unique demands on your instruments and gear, which means that you need equipment that's built to stand up to those conditions. Frequent handling, long-distance transportation and even the occasional collision are all things that marching band brass, percussion and accessories are designed to face. On top of that, they've got to be lightweight and easy to carry. It's a tough standard, but this section is where you'll find the essentials that can take it in stride. Some brass instruments, like the trumpet and cornet, have a shape that works well for playing on the move.
For others, though, a few modifications make them much better suited to marching bands. Take the marching French horn, for example. Unlike its standard counterpart, this version of the instrument looks more like a flugelhorn or mellophone, allowing it to be carried the same way and keeping the bell pointing forward to focus its sound along with the rest of the band. If you play the tuba, consider a convertible model, which allows the mouthpiece to be repositioned so you can choose between marching and upright orientations. Of course, brass isn't the only thing to pique your interest here. For a percussionist, there are tons of great instruments from bass drums to snares to toms. The selection caters to every drummer, whether you play a single instrument or take things to the next level with a set like the Tama Marching Bubinga and Birch Tenor Sextet. More exotic options like the Musser M63 Marching Marimba can also be found here, for a band that goes the extra mile with melodic percussion.
Nearly as important as your instruments themselves are their hardware, so don't hesitate to pick out the slings, mallets, drum carriers, lyres and whatever else you may need. From the humblest drum key to the biggest, most rugged xylophone field frame, accessories come in all shapes and sizes. And if your drum major is handy with the iconic Premier mace, this piece of gear can also be one of the key parts of the performance. Instruments, accessories, parts and more: if you need something for a marching band, then you're in the right place. A strong collection of equipment is one of the most basic ingredients that any band needs to look and perform its best.
