Wedding reception music – General information
• Depending on the size of your wedding and your specific needs, our wedding band ranges in size from a 1 piece to an 8 piece band. Instruments include the saxophone, drums, guitar, bass, electric violin, keyboard, and male and female vocals.

• We happily travel and play music for weddings in Sydney, the Hunter Valley, Blue Mountains and the Southern Highlands. We also travel interstate and overseas!

“We need music for our wedding reception, how long do we hire Something Borrowed?”

Most couples need wedding reception music for 5 hours, but you can book us for longer if needed. We will play up to 4 x 45 minute sets of live music over a 5 hour timeframe; and our band will program DJ background music during the band breaks, ensuring the atmosphere is still pumping. Our exact set times will be worked out with you as soon as the run sheet is finalised (Which is normally 3-4 weeks before the date of your wedding).

“What sort of music do you play at wedding receptions?”

We play soft background music for drinks, canapés and dinner – then upbeat party music for dancing. Typically, we put our own special twist on pop, soul and softer jazz during pre-dinner drinks and dinner, acting as background mood music. Then once the cake is cut and you’ve had your first dance, the band kicks off the dancing with party music. We start with classic dance floor tunes for the older guests, then move on to the new stuff. This way the music appeals to the young and the not so young!

In summary, we play different music styles to fit in with each of these parts of your wedding celebration:

1. Drinks/Dinner (Live Band)

3. Party Music (Live Band)

When you book Something Borrowed to perform at your wedding reception, you will choose at least six special wedding songs to highlight the key moments of the reception.

Our Package Pricing includes playing the First Dance live and up to 4 x 45 minute sets of music played live by the band, while the other key wedding music highlights are normally added to our DJ playlist. (The reason for this is that the band can be too loud for the MC who needs to make announcements during these important key moments. We find that having control over the volume via our DJ system ensures that everything runs smoothly and professionally.)
